About Me: The Woman Behind the Unhinged Homemaker
I never really know how to start an “about me” without feeling like I’m writing a dating profile, a professional bio, or something that sounds like it belongs on the back of a shampoo bottle.
So I’ll just start here. With something simple, Hi, I’m Elizabeth.
I’m a mom, a lawyer, a hobby collector, a book lover, a newfound label reader, a kitchen experimenter, a chaos coordinator, and the person behind Unhinged Homemaker.
I am also, unfortunately, the kind of person who gets one idea and immediately turns it into twelve related ideas, three side projects, a notes app full of half-written plans, and probably a website. Which is how we ended up here. I've been known to jump from hobby to hobby but the truth is I have never actually felt fulfilled so I was constantly searching for that feeling of wholeness. So I decided to start this lil blog to keep track of all my hobbies and all the things me and just take you along for the ride!
The Mom Part
The biggest part of me is being a mom. A boy mom at that!
I have a son (as of this post in June 2026, he is three years old!) and the love I have for him is the one thing in my life that always feels infinite. Everything else may change. My interests change. My routines change. My opinions change. My goals shift. The version of myself I thought I would be five years ago is not exactly the version of myself I am now (and honestly, that is probably a good thing, because iykyk).
But being his mom is the center of everything.
Brantley, that's my sons name, is also the reason the label reading started.
I care more now about what comes into our home. What we eat. What we buy. What we keep around. What habits I am building, even the tiny ones. I started thinking more about what kind of home I wanted him to grow up in and not in a perfect Pinterest way. More in a “I want this house to feel safe, lived-in, warm, and ours” kind of way. If you know me you know I love a house full of people and that warm and cozy feeling you get when you're surrounded by your people. I want my son to feel like that every moment of his life, while I can help it anyways.
Motherhood made me softer in many ways, but it also made me more serious about things I used to ignore. Ingredients. Routines. Time. Energy. The kind of life we are actually building day by day. Now don't get it twisted, it did not make me magically organized. I meannn, let’s not get carried away, lol.
But it did make me pay attention. Now again, I'm not perfect, so just because I started reading labels doesn't mean my son doesn't still snack on a Dorito here and there or have frozen pizza or nuggets for lunch some days. It just means I am making the conscious effort in nearly every decision I make to provide the best possible things and the best possible life for my child.
The Lawyer Part
I’m also a lawyer, which means a decent part of my brain is permanently stuck in research mode. This can feel like a constant state of panic if you as me lol.
I question things. I compare things. I read the fine print. I want to know why something is the way it is. I want to know everything about the people I associate with. I want to leave no rock unturned when it comes to my curiosity.
This part of me shows up everywhere. It shows up in my work, obviously, but it also shows up in the way I read labels, find new book, listen to new music, research ingredients, learn about rituals, compare recipes, look into products, and ask my fiancé random questions while he is actively trying to do things that are way more important that my questions HAHA. Who can relate??
But I do think being a lawyer made me a little more comfortable with not knowing everything right away. Howeverrrrr, I'm still very impatient (but actively working on this, I mean, I have a 3 year old, remember?) But with being a lawyer, you learn how to look things up, how to question your first assumption, how to build understanding piece by piece. That is kind of how I approach everything now.
Cooking, homemaking, spirituality, motherhood, career growth, all of it.
I am always learning. I am always adjusting. I am always finding out that something I thought I understood has another layer. Nothing is ever really finished. Which is rude, but also kind of the point. I'm always better tomorrow that I was yesterday because I am actively building on and improving the life I want for myself and for my family.
The Chaotic Queen Part
So if you know me in real life, then you can agree when I say: I am not the calm, minimalist, beige-linen homemaker. I respect her journey, but she does not live here. I am more of a chaotic queen with too many interests and a deep belief that one more notebook or planner might fix my entire life.
I want to cook. I want to read. I want to write. I want to learn more about herbs and rituals and old practices. I want to make my house cozy. I want to organize everything and also somehow avoid organizing anything. I want to try homemade snacks, learn tarot, build a grimoire, keep up with my book club, make better grocery swaps, and probably start three more things before the month ends, let's be real, before the day ends really.
This used to make me feel scattered. Honestly, it still does, who am I kidding. But the difference is, now I’m trying to see it differently. Maybe I’m not someone who lacks focus. Maybe I’m someone who is interested in a lot of things and I just need a place to put them so they stop floating around in my head like unfiled evidence.
Sooo, that’s what this site is for. A landing zone. For all the recipes, the rituals, the questions, the notes, the projects, the books, the ideas, and the random bits of life I want to remember. Que the birth of Unhinged Homemaker LOL
I promise, I really am this funny, ask anyone who knows me fr.
The Chef in Progress
I love to cook, but I am not pretending I am some professionally trained kitchen goddess who never burns anything and always knows what she is doing. I am very much a chef in progress. Or maybe a kitchen witch in progress, depending on the day and whether there is a candle lit nearby. Haha
I like food that feels like home. I like meals that are realistic. I like recipes that can survive real life, a busy schedule, a kid, a grocery budget, and the fact that sometimes I simply do not want to do the most.
I am learning what is worth making from scratch and what is absolutely allowed to stay store-bought. I am learning how to read ingredient labels without turning grocery shopping into a full emotional event, because I mean it can get there fast and the facts are I still have to survive this thing called life. I am learning which swaps actually work for my family and which ones sound good online but would get rejected at my own dinner table with alarming confidence.
That is what Sage & Supper is for.
This is where I’ll keep the recipes I love, the ones I want to remember, the swaps I’m trying, the pantry notes, the ingredient side-eye, and the meals that make me think, okay, yes, this one stays.
I do not want cooking to become another impossible standard. I want it to become something I return to. Something I get better at. Something that feeds my family and makes the house feel more like home. Something that keeps my family, friends, my kid(s) friends (when that time comes) and everyone else showing up at my door step with a mouth that's ready to eat honey!!
The Grimoire Side of Things
I have also been drawn more and more toward ritual, intuition, herbs, nature, and the kind of practices that make ordinary life feel a little more intentional. I am not here to act like I know everything. I don’t. I’m learning, I want to keep learning, and I want to share that journey. Which bring me to another reason why I wanted this space.
I needed somewhere to record the practices I actually use. My go-to rituals. The words I say. The ingredients I reach for. What I’m trying. What feels grounding. What feels useful. What I want to come back to.
Basically, this is part blog, part diary, part grimoire, part recipe box, part “please let me remember what I did so I can do it again.”
I like the idea of having a place where I can keep track of first-of-the-month abundance rituals, seasonal practices, kitchen witchery, little home rituals, book notes, recipes, downloads, and whatever else becomes part of my life while also being able to share that with my people.
What You’ll Find Here
On Unhinged Homemaker, you’ll find the things I’m actually living, learning, and keeping track of.
Sage & Supper is where the food lives: recipes, kitchen notes, ingredient swaps, pantry finds, and meals worth making again.
The Grimoire is where I’ll record everything: rituals, spiritual practices, herbal notes, seasonal ideas, and the little things that make life feel more grounded. This is the journal you never asked for.
The Book Coven is my low-pressure book club space because reading is better when you have people to spiral with.
The Chaos Kitchen Collective is a group for recipes, swaps, kitchen must-haves, tips, tricks, and the kind of food talk that happens when everyone is just trying to make dinner without losing their mind.
The Coven is the main group, the gathering place for everything else: homemaking, hobbies, mom life, projects, chaos, and whatever does not fit neatly into a box.
And the downloads are for the cute, useful things I make along the way, because apparently I love a printable and I have accepted this about myself.
A Look Into the Future
I don’t want this site to be perfect. I want it to be honest.
I want it to feel like a place I can come back to and say, here is what I’m learning. Here is what I made. Here is what worked. Here is what absolutely did not. Here is the recipe I need to save forever. Here is the ritual I want to remember. Here is the thought I had while standing in my kitchen at 10:47 p.m. wondering why I started another project.
But I also want it to be the place YOU can come back to. When you need a good laugh, a new recipe or a book recommendation.
I want this to be a record of becoming, but not in the cheesy way. More like a record of adjusting. Because that is what I keep coming back to. I am always learning and adjusting. In motherhood. In work. In cooking. In spirituality. In my home. In the way I take care of my family and myself. Nothing stays exactly the same forever, and I don’t think it’s supposed to.
The only thing I know is permanent as I said before, is the love I have for my child.
Everything else, I’m willing to keep learning.
So welcome to Unhinged Homemaker.
This is my little landing zone for the recipes, rituals, notes, chaos, questions, and pieces of life I want to keep.
I’m glad you’re here. I hope you choose to stay.
Blessed be.
